A-ha photographed by Phil Nicholls

Photoshoot: 17 August 1988
Location: Kensington, London, UK.

"My first shoot with A-ha sees the three band members looking pretty cool on a hot summer day in London".

Phil Nicholl’s first shoot with A-ha, the 1980s new wave synth pop phenomenon – featuring left to right, Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen, and Pål Waaktaar-Savoy.

A-ha wowed British audiences with chart hits, Take On Me, The Sun Always Shines On TV, and The Living Daylights (theme tune to the Bond movie of the same name). Arguably, in the UK, A-ha might be best remembered for their ground-breaking video for Take On Me, which used a pencil-sketch animation and live action combination called rotoscoping, with band members morphing from live characters into pencil drawings and back again.
